Marilyn A. Nippold, PhD, holds an Endowed Professorship at the University of Oregon where she has worked since 1982, teaching and conducting research in later language development, literacy, language disorders, and stuttering. She received her BA in philosophy from UCLA; her MA in Communicative Disorders from California State University Long Beach; and her PhD in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University. Dr. Nippold is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and received the Editor’s Award for articles published in ASHA journals in 1983 and 2001. She has published over 90 journal articles and book chapters, and her popular textbook, Later Language Development, is now in its 3rd edition. Professor Nippold is a frequent presenter at state, national, and international conferences.
