WAYS TO SAVE $$$
--
Interested in saving some money on course books? Here are some tips that will save you cash.

 UO STUDENTS SAVE EVERYDAY!
--
The Duck Store is one of only 25 large college bookstores nationwide to offer a university membership discount for all UO students. With our discount, you save 10% off the publisher list price on new titles. For used titles, your savings are even greater with a 32% discount off the publisher list price.
--
 PURCHASE USED BOOKS
--
Used books are a great way of saving money each term! Used titles are available on a first come, first serve basis so it is wise to shop a few days early if you are interested in purchasing used course books. We carry used books for as many book orders as we possibly can, although sometimes a book order limits our ability to offer students used books (i.e. new editions, bundled books or course packets). -- Don't forget...save even more by selling your used books back to the Duck Store during Buyback!
--
 USE LIBRARY RESOURCES
--
CHECK THE UO LIBRARIES COURSE RESERVES.
Some instructors place personal copies of course books or packets on reserve for short loans to students. In addition, the Duck Store provides copies of some high demand course books for course reserve borrowing.
--
SUBMIT CATALOG
If the book is owned by other libraries in the Orbis Cascade catalog, you may be able to borrow it within three days of your request.

 SELL BACK YOUR BOOKS
--
Students may bring their books in to sell to the Campus Duck Store at any time. The Campus Duck Store buys books 359 days a year. However, for the best prices bring your books in during finals buyback. At the end of each term, we buy books needed by the Campus Duck Store for the upcoming term. At this time, representatives of a national wholesale book company (we use several on a rotating basis) staff the Buyback counter locations. -- In general, if the textbook is going to be used the next term, the Bookstore will pay you half of the current student retail price for your new or used course book. For example, if a textbook is originally $100, the Bookstore will base all buyback prices on the $90 discounted student price. A student who purchased the book new for $90 will receive $45 during buyback; a student who purchased the book used for $75 will also receive $45 during buyback. Overall, the student with the used text saved $15 more than the student who purchased the book new.

 UTILIZE BUYBACK ONLINE
--
Buyback Online is comprised of three tools. First, Sell A Book allows you to check the current buyback prices for your books. Get the best prices at the end of term during finals week. If your book has buyback value you should sell it back the same day. Used book demand is limited and a book's value may change. -- The second Buyback Online tool is the free Used Book Classifieds, a service provided by the Duck Store to help you sell your course books to other students. Post books you would like to sell or find books that others are offering. -- The third tool, Buy-Back Alerts, sends you an email if your book is being bought at the Campus Duck Store. Book prices change during the term; a book with low value now may have higher value at a later date if it is used here or on a different university campus. This service is a great way to stay up to date on the current price of your book!
