Q
When is the Grad Fair?
A
The 2008 Grad Fair be held Monday, April 7—Thursday, April 10 from 10:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m. in the Campus Duck Store lobby. Purchase grad packages, announcements, class ring & more!

When can I purchase my graduation package?
A
Graduation packages go on sale each year during the Grad Fair starting Monday, April 3, 2008.

When will graduation packages be available online for purchase?
A
Starting Friday, April 11, 2008, you can purchase packages online until the first week of June.
Q
How long is the main ceremony?
A
Approximately two hours.
Q
Should I go to both the main ceremony as well as my departmental ceremony?
A
Absolutely! The main ceremony is designed to bring the entire graduating class and their family and friends together. The departmental ceremonies are of equal importance, especially since each graduate will be individually recognized.

Who is recognized at the main ceremony?
A
Ph.D. candidates.
Q
What happens at the individual department ceremony?
A
Bachelor's and Master's candidates walk through as their names are read and receive a blank diploma cover.
Q
When do we get our diplomas?
A
They are mailed to graduates ten to twelve weeks after graduation.

Can I rent a cap and gown, and where do I get them?
A
Master's and Ph.D. candidates can rent their regalia at the Campus Duck Store. Bachelor's candidates must purchase a cap and gown. Several packages and regalia discounts are available. Call the Campus Duck Store for more information at (541) 346-4331.

I'm not really graduating until next term. Is it okay to go through the ceremony?
A
Yes. You may attend the main ceremony and don't need to apply with the registrar. However, your name does not appear in the main program until the term you graduate.
Q
I think I have the grades to be a Latin Honor Recipient (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude) but am not on the list. Why?
A
You must have completed a required number of credit hours at the University of Oregon to be considered for Latin Honors. If you are completing credit hours spring term, you may get confirmation of your status from the Registrar's Office at 220 Oregon Hall, (541) 346-3216.

Why do I have to pay a Commencement Fee? What is it?
A
The $10 Commencement Fee is collected to pay for your diploma cover and the production of University graduation ceremonies.

I have a double major. Can I go to both departmental ceremonies?
A
Yes, as long as they are not at the same time. For an additional $4.00 you may get tassels for each of your departments. But, you will only receive one diploma cover and diploma.

Do I need tickets for Commencement?
A
No, it will be first come, first served. The ceremony begins at 12:30PM. Information will be mailed to you either at the end of March or the end of April (depending on when you applied for graduation), or you can get information online from the Office of Student Life website.

What if it rains?
A
Only fair weather locations are printed on commencement announcements, however there are alternate rain locations for departmental ceremonies. We recommend that you listen to local radio stations for weather information in the event that rain is forecast. You can also check the Student Life website for rain plans.
Q
What if I decide not to go to the ceremonies? Do I get my money back?
A
If you have already purchased full regalia and paid your Commencement Fee, you may receive a refund from the Campus Duck Store NO LATER THAN THE DAY BEFORE Commencement, and only if the garments have not been worn.
