You've put in the hours and graduation day is quickly approaching. Aside from applying to graduate, there are still a few more steps before you walk on Commencement Day. We're here to help you finish up all the details.
What do I need for Commencement?
You'll need graduation regalia, which includes:
- for bachelors - cap, gown and tassel
- for masters - cap, gown, tassel and hood
- for Ph.D - tam, gown, tassel and hood
Many students also purchase a stole to represent their college (or we also have options including mascot, Pride, and Black Lives Matter stoles).
You'll also need to pay for your diploma cover and commencement fee ($16.49 combined) so you can receive your diploma cover at Commencement.
The Duck Store has combined all these items into graduation packages.
How do I get a graduation package?
Graduation packages are available only at The Duck Store. You can purchase them online at UODuckStore.com or in-person at the Flagship Campus Duck Store.
- Online - they are available to purchase online starting in March. Click here to shop now.
- In-person - you can purchase at the Flagship Campus Duck Store beginning with the Grad Fair event which takes place during mid-April. Law and Portland students will receive information about events specific to their locations.
Each graduation package also includes a bonus $20, $30, or $50 Duck Store gift card depending on which tier of package you choose.
What are the different graduation package tiers?
- Package C includes all of the essentials you wear on Commencement Day plus the required diploma cover and commencement fee.
- Package B includes everything in Package C plus a stole of your choice.
- Package A includes everything in Package B plus a diploma frame.
What else happens at Grad Fair?
In addition to being the kick-off event for purchasing Graduation Packages in-person, Grad Fair also includes vendors for diploma frames, class rings, and graduation announcements. You can order these items at the event or just stop by to learn more and purchase later.
Can I buy individual items instead of a Graduation Package?
We do offer a la carte graduation items, but if you are participating in commencement ceremonies, you’ll at least want to purchase Package C. It includes only the required items with no additional mark-up. Since you get a bonus gift card with all packages, this ends up being a better deal than buying each item individually. A la carte items are a good option if you need a replacement item or an extra item as a souvenir.
How do I claim my UO Alumni Association Membership?
UOAA offers graduates special Grad Package discounts! 1-Year UOAA Membership Grad Package discount is $15 (non-discounted 1-year standard individual membership is $55). Students may opt to upgrade to a Lifetime Membership Grad Package discount for $375 (non-discounted standard individual lifetime membership is $750). All new members will receive graduation gifts from the UOAA. The UOAA will contact new members directly about our New Grad Gift Pickup event on June 6 and 7.
