The clothing we choose to wear can be one way to show support for a community. And it’s even more impactful when those purchases directly support the groups and communities they are meant to uplift. Since 2022, The Duck Store has worked with the UO Student Veteran Center to donate a portion of proceeds from military-themed University of Oregon product collections. During the inaugural year of the partnership, we’re proud to have contributed $3,183.46. In 2023, we made an additional donation of $4,971.27. Thank you to Oregon fans who purchased an item from these collections to help make this support possible!

The Student Veteran Programs, which oversees the UO Student Veteran Center and is part of the Office of the Dean of Students, assists veterans in making a seamless transition from military service to the campus community. The Student Veterans Center serves as a resource and touchpoint for student veterans, as well as members of the national guard, reserve, active-duty military, and military family members. The center assists students in meeting their academic goals and connects them to resources and community. The UO Student Veteran Center was started in June 2013 and continues to grow and expand in serving military-connected students.

Also housed within the UO Student Veteran Center is the Veterans and Family Student Association (VFSA). This student-run organization helps to build a better and more integrated community within the university between veterans, military affiliated students, and the student community at large.

“The donation from the Duck Store will make a difference for student veterans and military connected students. The funds will go toward engaging students with resources on and off campus and creating opportunities for the UO military connected community to come together” said Maria Kalnbach, the Coordinator of Nontraditional and Veteran Student Engagement and Success.
